Wongai Dreaming , by Torres Strait Islander artist, and 2024 National NAIDOC Poster winner, Deborah Belyea, highlights its fantastical, dream-like quality. A young Torres Strait Islander woman is seen looking into the night sky, observing the ripening of wongai fruit as the Tagaizugubal (Tagai star constellation) is shown in the background. This is usually in July, when the Sagergub (South East wind) season blows and Tagai is seen in an upside down position. This artwork shows the link between the land, sea and sky for Islanders.
Measuring 297mm x 420mm and printed using pigment ink on high resolution, cotton art quality paper, this art piece is an absolute standout. This artwork is presented under white mount board and sealed in plastic packaging. All pieces come with artist statement and Supply Nation certification.
