Torres Strait Sea Creatures Cards: Snap! and Go Fish.

Torres Strait Islanders are one of the First Nations’ Peoples of Australia. These beautiful islands are found between Cape York Peninsula, Queensland, and Papua New Guinea. The people of the Top Western Island group speak the traditional dialect of Kalaw Kawaw Ya (KKY), a severely endangered dialect.

These beautifully illustrated cards were created by Torres Strait Islander, Deb Belyea, and introduces children to her dialect of Kalaw Kawaw Ya (KKY) (a severely endangered dialect), through these unique sea creatures. Featuring the English and KKY words for these creatures, these cards come with a link to a downloadable KKY Bingo Game and a  presentation featuring the pronunciation of these words by esteemed linguist, Leonora Adidi.
